CANTINE DI VERONA: THE LIMITED EDITION DEDICATED TO THE “POESIA” AWARD HAS ARRIVED

On the label of Idyllium the winning poem of the sixth edition of the competition. The composition Storie di Vino is the work of Giorgio Sembenini.
Cantine di Verona presents Idyllium, the limited edition bottle dedicated to the poetry of Giorgio Sembenini, author and painter from Pastrengo (Verona), winner of the sixth edition of the Poetry Award, a competition that the Scala cooperative society has been announcing every two years since 2010. Sembenini, entitled Storie di vino, was chosen among over 500 writings arriving from all over Italy.
Rosso Veneto IGT Idyllium, made from Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Molinara grapes, is characterized by a label played on shades of black and white embellished with red and gold details. In the centre, the words in verse by Giorgio Sembenini: a tribute to the vineyard, to the dry stone walls typical of the Valpantena and to the sparkling play of the sun among the ripe bunches.
“With the Poetry Award - says the President of Cantine di Verona Luigi Turco - we aim to enhance the culture of a territory, that of Verona, where our roots are rooted. We strongly believe in the importance of underlining the close links between literature and wine, between poetic creation and peasant industriousness".
The sixth edition of the competition, whose history began in 2010 and which year after year sees the participation of an increasing number of poems, was dedicated to Dante Alighieri on the occasion of the seventh centenary of the death of the Supreme Poet, who with Verona and the Scaliger territory has a strong bond. The regulation provides that the works sent are unpublished and that they do not exceed 15 verses.
To determine the victory of Sembenini, whose latest publication is entitled La me migola del mondo (My crumb of the world), a special examining jury chaired by the teacher and poet Antonio Seracini and composed of Bruno Avesani, teacher and historian, by the poets Nerina Poggese and Fabiola Ballini, by Annamaria Fraccaroli, teacher and partner of Cantine di Verona, and by Alessandro Arnesano, secretary of the competition.
The limited edition of Idyllium is available in all Cantine di Verona stores.
