Martina Caltran, from the Europa Unita primary school in Verona, is the winner of the first edition of the Technological School. The competition, launched in November by Cantina Valpantena with the patronage of the Municipality of Verona - Department of Education, was reserved for primary schools in the city of Verona, to tell the experiences of returning to the classroom after the lockdown.
Thanks to Martina, a student in the 5th class, the institute won three thousand euros to be used for the purchase of technological tools to support teaching, from overhead projectors to computers and tablets. To finish in second and third place, awarded respectively with two thousand and one thousand euros, Gioia De Marco, from the 5th class in the Antonio Provolo equal primary school, and Marta Zanchetta, from the 4th B in the Alessandro Manzoni primary school.
Among the numerous drawings received, the three winners were selected by a jury composed of the president of Cantina Valpantena Luigi Turco, Emanuela Placchi, Directorate of School and Youth Education Policies of the Municipality of Verona, the painter and graphic designer Giancarlo Molinari and the psychotherapist Sara Bertoncelli.
“We are particularly satisfied with the response from schools in Verona to our initiative. We have obtained much better results than initial expectations - President Turco declares - With over 600 drawings sent, teachers, students and families, attracted by the enthusiasm of their children in the novelty of the initiative, have shown great attention to local projects, for an increasingly smart, technological and future-oriented school. As soon as the health situation allows, we are planning an award ceremony in the presence of the jury and all those who have joined the Technological School competition".
The design that won the first prize will be the subject of a special Corvina Veronese label that can be purchased in the Cantina Valpantena sales points. The winners Martina, Gioia and Marta will receive a medal and a bottle of Extra Virgin Olive Oil, their teachers an Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG. Furthermore, when it is possible, the classes of the awarded students will be invited to visit the Quinto cellar and to participate in a cooperative oil tasting lesson.
